MTFC bow out in Semi’s

Dave Baxter, Kevin Christopher, Daniel Lilley and Martin Blanchard reached the semi finals of the 2017 Scottish Grand Prix in Glasgow.

The teams involved were Glasgow TSA, Dundee TFC, Yorkshire Pheonix and Greek side Roligans TSC.

We bowed out in the Semi final to Greek side Roligans in a close 2-0 defeat.

The eventual winners were Yorkshire Pheonix TFC.

PTSA announce Premier League

The Professional Table Soccer Association have announced The 2017 PTSA Premier League.

The Premier League will consist of 8 invited players from the UK and Europe to compete in a two-day league structured event.

On day one each player will have 7 games, completing the league table and the bottom four being eliminated from day two.

Day two will play two semi finals (1v4,2v3) a then a third place playoff and commencing with the final.

The total prize pool is €800 with €500 to winner €200 and €100 to third place and €50 will be given to each player to help towards travel expenses.

The two days will include TV/Streaming Coverage, in-game statistics and player interviews.

Normal games rules apply with no changes applied.

The inaugural event is invitation only by the PTSA but you can declare your interest to play via their website

They will announce the selected players on Tuesday 2nd May 2017.

Event date & venue are to be confirmed but it will be situated in Manchester,UK and around November time. More news to follow…

Inter League – Daley beats Lilley

Brian Daley of Yorkshire Phoenix TFC won week one of the inter league hosted by Manchester TFC, Brian got a second half goal in a great end to end game against Manchester’s Danny Lilley.

Cayne Matthews won the 3rd place playoff game in a 2-0 victory over London Road SC player Dave Kelly.

The next league date is 28th March, All welcome

Tchaaa4 to sponsor new players

We are pleased to announce that Tchaaa4 the Belgium table soccer company have sponsored equipment for youth and newcomers in 2017.

With our club recently securing a partnership with Hotel Football, the hotel owned by former Manchester United players Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, we hope to generate further interest in our monthly league meetings.

The sponsorship from Tchaaa4 will allow any new player to play with the most modern equipment on the market to welcome them to the game/sport.

Midlands Win for Ramsay

Wolverhampton Subbuteo Football Club opened the club yesterday with its first ever tournament in memory of former player Roy Holden. Roy was the organisor of the Black Country Subbuteo Club from 1965 to 1999 but sadly passed away in 2011.

The event was a great success, with 14 contenders from the Midlands and further afield. It was played in great spirit with a great atmosphere. Robert Ramsey was the eventual winner in a close final. Robert scored his winner against Mike Bradbury with only seconds left.

Paul Eyes Joins Manchester

One of America’s best ever players Paul Eyes has joined Manchester Table Football Club.

The USA international and six times National US Veterans Champion as joined to compete in upcoming team events.

“Joining MTFC is a natural fit for me as I will be playing for a club that is in the area where I grew up playing before moving to the USA as an adult.

I am very excited about the direction of the club, and the energy brought by Daniel Lilley who is committed to growing the game. I look forward to playing my part.” Said Paul

Pauls honours include teaching more than 300 youth players the game in the USA, Being the 2012 National Champion in the Open Category, 6 times National US Veterans Champion, 5 times National Team champion with Maryland Subbuteo Club and the only US player to win a FISTF event in Europe (Denmark GP 2008 Veterans category) and finally was the 2016 US World Cup Veterans Captain.

New Club Venue Announced

We are delighted to announce our new venue partnership with Hotel Football, which is situated next the Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground.

Hotel Football, which is owned by Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville will now host a monthly meet for our club on the last Tuesday of every month.

Starting Tuesday 31st January 2017, this sessions will start from 7pm and will consist of WASPA events and general training for new comers.

Ruby shines in Cardiff

Ruby Matthews, Daniel Lilley and Cayne Matthews ventured down to Cardiff for the 2016 Grand Prix of Wales.

Daniel and Cayne was competing in the Open and Veteran categories respectively whilst 7 year old Ruby was set to compete in her first every FISTF event.

Ruby who represented Manchester in the U12’s and Ladies categories came runner up in the U12’s and missed out by a few goals on also coming runner up in the ladies, this little maestro as a bright future in the game.

Cayne and Daniel crashed out in the group stages but Lilley managed to claim the plate trophy by beating London’s Martin Bellefontaine on a shootout after a 1-1 draw.

Next event for Manchester is the International Open of England in February.
